As we covered in our previous post last month, we had the privilege of being involved in two major events hosted in the UK to promote France’s plans for its thriving technology sector. The events were designed to underline the ambition of the French government to create the number one technology ecosystem in Europe.

A core component of this strategy was the announcement of this year’s Next40 – an index listing the 40 French tech start-ups and scale-ups with the potential to become world-class leaders. While this is an exciting development for the macro technology sector in France, one of the highlights for us was the inclusion of one of our portfolio companies – Talentsoft. And, while we may be biased, it’s not hard to see why.

Talentsoft is the European leader in cloud-based talent management and learning software. For the first half of 2019, it reported 39% revenue growth, well ahead of its objectives for the year. In addition, more than 110 new organisations have trusted Talentsoft worldwide to manage the development of their teams. No surprise then that selection for The Next40 was based on outstanding financial performance

We expect Talentsoft’s growth trajectory to continue – but by joining this select group of companies, we hope Talentsoft will also benefit from the dedicated support of the French government on the international scene, as well as support from the public authorities’ promotional efforts and support in the media.

Commenting on the release of the index, Cédric O, Secretary of State for Digital Affairs, said, “the success of French Tech must now be translated into the development of several dozen technological leaders. This is a challenge in terms of jobs because only the world champions are capable of creating tens of thousands of jobs in a few years. We must support our nuggets so that it becomes a reality.”

The Next40 list featured a variety of exciting and innovative companies, including Blablacar, Doctolib, Payfit, Veepee, and Mirakl – all of which are completely redefining their industries, and we expect to hear much more about all of them in the years to come. The full list of companies can be found here.

We’re incredibly proud to have been on the journey with the exceptional Talentsoft team over the past year and believe its inclusion in the Next40 is one more chapter in what will be a very successful growth story.
